About

“If it’s a choice, I’d rather laugh than cry.” Melissa U Mol

Melissa U Mol writes about women, friendship, longing, motherhood, grief, bad timing, good books, and all the things we usually pretend we’re fine about.

She is a messy human who loves her family madly and deeply, occasionally to the point of insanity. When she is not writing, she is reading, doing the washing, cooking, or standing in the kitchen wondering why everyone in the house needs to eat again or why they on wear clothes only once.

She likes stories with messy feelings, sharp humour, and women saying the thing they probably weren’t meant to say out loud.

Her true love is travel—preferably where she can eat her way around the world and call it cultural research. She is big on “research”. It’s her scientific background, she can’t shake it.

Unedited with Melissa U Mol, is a podcast in the making, where she talks about books, words, desire, midlife, and the strange little truths that sit under everyday life. She dosen’t have the answers but wants the conversation and is hoping the recognition of common problem might spark solutions.

Melissa has been told she is too honest. Definitely cheeky. Sometimes inappropriate. Occasionally unhinged. What people are trying to say, she believes, is that she’s good fun.

Basically, if you’ve ever laughed at the worst possible moment (like during wedding vows), cried in your car, or read something and thought, well, that explains a lot, you’ll probably feel at home here and are Melissa’s Soul Sister. Welcome.
